What is periodic training for Koda 95?

Periodic training is legally required education for professional drivers that extends the validity of Koda 95 for another 5 years. It consists of classroom-based lectures with no exam. The topics are prescribed each year by the ministry responsible for infrastructure, with an emphasis on road safety, changes in legislation, and economical driving.

Do I need periodic or initial training?

If you already have Koda 95 (even if it has expired), you need periodic training. Initial training with an exam is intended only for drivers who have never obtained the required initial qualification. If you are not sure which option applies to you, give us a call. We will quickly check your status and advise you on the right programme.

How long is Koda 95 valid for?

Koda 95 is valid for 5 years. After obtaining the initial qualification, you can extend its validity exclusively through periodic training.

How many hours does periodic training for Koda 95 take?

Periodic training consists of a total of 35 hours, divided into 5 lectures of 7 hours each. Each lecture covers the programme for one year, and a driver can complete only one lecture per day. After each lecture, you receive a certificate of attendance.

When do I need to complete periodic training?

You must complete all 5 lectures before your Koda 95 expires. It is highly recommended that you complete one 7-hour lecture each year. This way, you can spread the obligation evenly and avoid the rush just before your Koda 95 expires.

Can I complete all 5 lectures in one year?

Yes, but each lecture must cover a different annual programme (the programmes from the last 5 years), and you are allowed to attend only one lecture per day. This means a minimum of 5 different training days. If you are behind with your lectures, we can help you create a schedule to catch up on the missing programmes in time.

Do I have to take an exam after completing periodic training?

No, there is no exam for periodic training. You only need to attend all 5 lectures. After the final lecture, the training provider will issue you a certificate of periodic training, which you can use to extend your Koda 95 at the administrative unit.

What happens if my Koda 95 has already expired?

An expired Koda 95 is not lost. You can reactivate it by completing periodic training, without taking an exam. You must complete the lectures covering the programme for the current year and the previous four years (35 hours in total). An important difference: if you renew Koda 95 on time, the new 5-year validity period starts from the expiry date of the previous Koda 95. If your Koda 95 has already expired, the new 5-year validity period starts from the date of your last completed lecture.

What is the penalty for driving without a valid Koda 95?

If a supervisory authority determines that a professional driver does not have a valid Koda 95, the driver may be prohibited from continuing the journey and may receive a fine. Both the driver and the transport company may be fined. Since the driving ban is imposed on the spot, this also means interrupted transport operations and additional costs for the employer. Completing periodic training on time is therefore significantly cheaper than paying a fine.

How do I extend my Koda 95 after completing the lectures?

Once you have collected certificates for all 5 lectures, the last training provider will issue you a certificate of periodic training. With this certificate, you can submit an application for an extension at any administrative unit. Your Koda 95 will be extended for 5 years and entered on your driving licence or driver qualification card.
